The date of the child's birth and the availability for a tour are some of the initial questions asked by the school.
A school administrator will give a tour of the school, which starts in the Primary environments and continues on to the specialists' areas, which include the French room, the gymnasium, the Music room, and the Art room. There will also be a visit to the library and the before-and-after-school room. Following that, the Lower and the Upper Elementary classrooms will be visited. Questions will be addressed in the administrator's office and an appointment to observe one of the Primary or Elementary classrooms will be made. Observation times are typically from 9:15-10:00 a.m. on days set aside for prospective parents.
When the parents have made a decision to have their child attend Bannockburn, a time is arranged for the child to visit the school. For the youngest children, this visit involves looking at the classrooms and spending time playing with the toys and games in the before-and-after-school room, while the parent shares their child's history with an administrator. The intension is to give the child a positive experience at school so that he or she is set up for success from the very start. Primary and Elementary students with previous Montessori experience from another school are asked to visit for three to five days in an age-appropriate classroom. When this visit is complete, a meeting between the parents and an administrator will take place to determine if the school can meet the needs of the child.
