There are so many ways to get involved in the Bannockburn School community: volunteering for field trips or recess supervision, fund-raising, or event planning and management. Listed below are just some of the ways you can become active in the community.
Be a Classroom Parent Representative
Volunteer to be a Classroom Parent Representative (Class Rep.). You will be assigned 6-7 parents from your child’s classroom. During the year, we will make phone calls to the parents to keep them informed of the BPA activities. You will also be a resource for the parents to contact if they have any concerns or questions regarding the BPA. There are no more than 3 times during the year, that we ask the Class Reps to make phone calls. These calls are done on your time.
Join Classroom Connections
Get to know your children’s classmates and their parents at a casual event. Each class is scheduled to meet after school early in the school year. Refreshments for parents and children are served, and an activity is offered to entertain the students and their siblings while parents become acquainted. We need 2-3 parent volunteers per class to help set up the playground or classroom depending on the weather.
Pizza Day
This is a popular event for children and parents alike! Pizza, drinks and fruit are served at lunch. Sign-up sheets available inside the School’s front entrance. We need 2-3 parent volunteers on the last Thursday of the month to prepare the fruit that accompanies the pizza and drink. Parents meet at 9:00 a.m. and preparation takes no longer than an hour.
Hearts of Bannockburn
This year’s big fundraiser will be filled with fun and friends, ideal for chasing away those February blues. We will post all the details in the new year.
Recess Volunteer
Want to be a part of your child’s school experience? Watch your children interact with others while you supervise recess period. The children really enjoy having parents watch them play and having an opportunity to introduce their friends. Commit to one recess period a week or share it with another parent.
Library Volunteer
Find out what your children are reading while you catalogue and re-shelve books in the library. Many volunteer times are available during normal school hours. Training is provided.
