Bannockburn School has been established in North Toronto as an independent private school for over a decade. Occupying a beautiful, brick building in a quiet residential area, the school was created by the need of various families in the community, who sought a nurturing and effective educational environment for their young children.
Bannockburn School was founded in 1993 as the Children's Montessori Independent School (CMIS). Consisting of four classrooms and just over sixty students, CMIS steadily grew over time. In 1994, as it acquired not-for-profit status, Adalove Gorrie took on the role of principal and Terry Gorrie assumed the role of business manager. CMIS was then renamed as Bannockburn School.
Bannockburn School is now a second home to over 130 students and continues to preserve and build upon the effective, individualized Montessori education that it has offered since its inception. The school is fortunate to maintain a strong community of faculty, administrators, and parents, who are all dedicated to giving each child the most enriching and inspiring learning experience possible.
