Bannockburn School gratefully acknowledges the various alumni and their parents for attending the Testimonial Evening held last November 7, 2007:

The evening was a resounding success, thanks to their candour and generosity in sharing their experiences within and beyond Bannockburn School.

 

Here are some comments from the testimonial evening:

-- Every student on the panel is on the honor roll and has been since Grade 7.

-- Every student had received other academic distinctions.

-- All parents on the panel were pleasantly surprised at the ease of their child’s transition. The graduates and their parents felt they had gained many valuable skills from the Montessori method and that it gave them an edge over their peers.

-- All graduates and their parents stressed that Bannockburn taught them to be self-motivated and manage their time. Even though Bannockburn does not have traditional homework, all graduates felt that the time management skills learned at Bannockburn taught them to accomplish more during the school day and deal with the homework they received in Grade 7 and beyond.

--All graduates commented on the independence and love of learning that they gained at Bannockburn.

-- Significantly, every graduate and parent on the panel talked about the self-confidence that was instilled in each child at Bannockburn. All graduates felt that this self-confidence facilitated their transition to other schools.

-- Graduates felt that in many subjects they were ahead of their classmates (some felt more advanced in math, others in English due to the UEL novel study program).

-- All graduates and parents also thought the public speaking and presentation skills learned at Bannockburn gave their children an advantage over their classmates. All the current Bannockburn parents attending the evening were impressed with the poise, eloquence and self-confidence displayed by the graduates. All the graduates participate in public speaking in their current schools.
